Helping you learn to use technology

The program matches volunteer teens who are interested in tutoring adults and seniors to use technology, including computers, software and the Internet. The program connect adults with modern technology, while offering young people a chance to develop teaching skills and self confidence in a one-on-one setting.

 

Tech-savvy young people between the ages of 13 and 19 are the mentors. The teens learn to use library technology and resources, develop curriculum and teaching techniques, help with community outreach, and work one-on-one with adults interested in learning how to use technology. dults/Seniors who would like one-on-one help learning to use technology are the mentees. The adults get individualized instruction and assistance using technology that matters.

 
The program has two goals:
  1. To enhance the teaching/technology skills of young people.
  2. To enhance the ability to access and utilize technology for adults and seniors.
The curriculum focuses on several areas:
  1. MS Office applications
  2. Digital photo editing
  3. Safe online Internet use
  4. Gaming
  5. Educational software and hardware to enjoy with friends and family
